The Galtymore Horseshoe from Clydagh Bridge carpark is a popular and also a challenging trail. Probably, for having to cross 4 mountains (1387m total ascent) along the 13km route.
I took the clockwise direction from east to west as the sun shines.
Although, the total ascent should be equal to the anti-clockwise option…. this other direction is probably easier on the uphill journey.

Excellent trail. Unfortunately it was a foggy day near the top when we ventured up here, but I have no doubt spectacular views could be seen if it was clear. Definitely a long hike and has quite a total ascent - a good sense of achievement afterwards!
