Follow this Trail Only with Experienced Hikers with Full preparations.
DO NOT TRY ANY MOUNTAIN HIKES IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE MOUNTAIN TERRAINS, DANGERS FROM WILDLIFE, FIRST AID, HYDRATION AND SNACKS, YOUR OWN FITNESS, REMOTE ACTIVITY PREPARATIONS, COMMUNICATION TOOLS, MOUNTAIN GEOGRAPHY, TOPOGRAPHY, RISK FACTORS, HSE REQUIREMENTS, HIKING RISKS, FITNESS LEVEL OF THE GROUP MEMBERS.
STUDY ALL ABOVE MATTERS WELL BEFORE FOLLOWING ANY TRAILS THAT YOU FIND ONLINE. PLEASE DO NOT OVER ESTIMATE YOURSELF.
BETTER BE SAFE THAN PUT YOURSELF / GROUP IN DANGER AND REGRET LATER.
2020 has Seen a lot of unwanted Hiking Incidents that could have been avoided with better preparation.
Wish you All the best.
Wikiloc, Only for Reference. There can be errors on the GPS recording due to GPS Jumping in the Wadi Sections.
I got an Opportunity to join this hike led by an Expert Hiker.
Wadi Naqab Alternative Trail to Sheri village.
Categorised as Advanced Hike due to the nature of the Trail.
This Trail starts from Wadi Naqab Sheri village fork, leads into Wadi that is full of Large Boulders, Polished rocks, loose stones and Steep terrain at places.
At the top level, you reach abandoned farms and then you approach the Sheri village from behind the mountain.
The end part of the Trail is the standard Sheri village Wadi Trail that is steep and boulders.
Not to be attempted by Beginner Hikers or Hikers with less Bouldering experience.
This is a Tough Hike with extensive Bouldering, Steep Climbing and polished Rocks.
High Elevation gain and Long Hike. Sure Footing is very necessary.
This Hike needs to be led by Expert Hiker who knows the Trail and Terrain.
I was Lucky to be part of the Free group that organised this Trail.

Hi Patrick ; does it require any roles or mountain climbing equipment?!
Patrick Vijay Dsilva 03.Oca.2021
Hi,
No need of any climbing equipment.
But the trail and the Boulders are difficult ones.
Its tricky in path too.
Lots of chances to get lost at certain points in the first half of the trail.
Best to go with an expert or someone who knows the trail.

I did this hike in late February 2021 and I must say it was the most extreme conventionnal hike I did in the UAE/Oman. It took me 6:20 hrs without taking any break. I consumed 3.5L of waters (there was no sun and it even rained twice). So, I recommend 6L of water during warmer months.
I view the trail as being two different parts: the ascent (took me 4:20 hrs) and the descent (took me 2hrs).
The ascent: I lost time by constantly checking my position on my phone compared to the GPX track. To make it simple, I simply advise to navigate through the Wadi using Google Maps in satellite view: if you're in the wadi, you're fine. It's basic but I overthought it with the GPX. To me, only experienced hikers can complete the ascent.
The descent: really straightforward. So, no comment.
At one point, during the ascent, I got lost, I guess, and put myself at risk. I struggled and probably lost 1hr or so. So, my previous comment about Google Maps may be true for 95% of the ascent but not where I got lost. Check the wikiloc interactive map at km 4.8 (712m of altitude) to see where I got lost. I went right when facing an obstacle. I guess there might be another way on the left... Good luck to do it in a better (and safer!!) way.

Dear JSIP,
Glad to know that you followed this trail and reached the village.
As I clearly mentioned in my description, I followed the guidance of an experienced Hiker who has done this Trail multiple times.
We went as a group and we were safe.
I am not sure if you were alone or you had company.
I thought my description and the Disclaimer was clear enough, looks like I need to edit the text.
This specific trail needs to be followed by experienced hikers and better by those who have done it before.
Praise the Lord, you are safe.
Take care, Be safe and enjoy Hiking.
God bless.

Thank you for your message. I was alone but I am highly trained and quite familiar with the Hajar mountains.
My message is the same, basically: this hike is for very experienced hikers and absolutely not a group of friends who want to discover a new hike.
